She has helped me set a new path for life with regard to my health and weight loss journey. She helps me find solutions to any barriers I encounter and keeps me motivated and encouraged along the way.

I've worked with Stephanie for almost two years in conjunction with Dr Gilbert on my weight loss journey. At this point I've lost about 125 pounds, and I'm looking forward to losing more, and in the future maintaining that weight loss. Stephanie is a great sounding board for my frustrations for weight loss, and helping me find issues that I wouldn't have thought relate to my eating and weight loss. She helps me consider where they come from and works with me to tease out strategies I can use to reduce their impact. She is also a sounding board when I have just gotten overwhelmed by the day-to-day. I've had a couple of large life changes in addition to my weight loss, and she has been working with me to keep everything from being overwhelming. It's good to have someone that's outside your daily routine to discuss things, and Stephanie is great for that.

I've worked with Dr Gilbert now for almost two years. In that time I've lost roughly 125 pounds and have continued on my weight loss journey with her and other staff at OWW. Dr Gilbert is caring, understands the difficulties of weight loss, and knows that the "old ways" of "eat less and exercise more", and patient blaming are NOT the way to successful weight loss and maintenance. She is continually researching and expanding her knowledge, and is able to distill and explain every esoteric science to a layman, and help one include that knowledge in a plan to aid in weight loss. I've been thoroughly impress with her, and wish that I had met her thirty years ago when I first started trying to lose weight. I wouldn't have been a yo-yo for that time, and probably wouldn't have had some of the physical problems I have now if I had.

I've thought about all the things I could say about you and your practice: That your treatments are scientifically based, you give compassionate care and I trust you because you are a kind, caring, nonjudgmental medical professional. But most importantly you listen and acknowledge the significant obstacles to a person's weight loss. You give your patients the courage to confront our difficult situations and then the tools necessary to surmount them. You give us hope of achieving our imagined path to a healthier future.

I avoided even trying to lose weight for years. The biggest road blocks for me were fear of being shamed and judged, and fear of feeling hungry, unsatisfied, and deprived for the rest of my life. I had enough stress in my life without adding those two traumas. When the pain and medical complications were just too much for me to tolerated any more, I sought help and was referred to Dr. Gilbert. Working with her has been a joy and a surprise. Dr. Gilbert immediately made it clear to me that obesity is a disease and the she would treat it as such, not as a moral failing. No shame, no blame. With her guidance and education, I have been able to develop eating habits that help to reduce my body's tendency to hold on to fat, while enjoying meals that are satisfying and delicious and never leave me hungry. I have lost nearly 80 pounds so far (and it's still coming off), gotten off two medications, and reduced my pain to a level that I seldom think about it. On this journey, Dr. Gilbert has been a trail guide, a coach, and a cheer leader.

Protein, protein, protein! I had never learned about protein and muscle before. This is a lifestyle change. Everybody can do it because it is a slow, steady process that you can stick with. Instead of killing yourself with exercise, you can find ways to enjoy activity. Dr. Gilbert helps you stay motivated!

This program is more personable. This is the first time that I’ve seen a doctor who takes the time and really cares.
